Who are Naturopathic Doctors?


Naturopathic doctors are trained as health care providers that mix modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine to people of all ages and in all stages of life. The naturopathic philosophy is to stimulate the healing power of the body and treat the root cause of the illness rather than suppressing symptoms. Naturopaths treat many acute or chronic conditions and often assist patients optimize their health.




What treatments does Dr. Corey ND RMT RAc provide?


Like many other Naturopathic Doctors, Dr. Corey ND RMT RAc can implement diet and lifestyle changes as while utilizing natural therapies including botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, physical medicine, and acupuncture. Dr. Corey ND also implements pelvic floor therapy for patients experiencing pelvic pain and urinary incontinence.




Are Naturopathic Doctors covered under OHIP?


Naturopathic visits are NOT covered by OHIP. However, most extended health care plans do cover the cost of seeing a Naturopath (as well as Registered Acupuncturists and Registered Massage Therapists).




What can I expect from the first visit?


You are asked to complete an intake form prior to the first visit. Your first visit is one hour in length and an extensive patient history will be taken. A complaint-oriented physical exam is performed as well if appropriate. Your ND will then propose a personalized treatment plan and may request that certain labs are completed. Follow up visits range from 30 minutes and one hour depending on the case and treatment. Acute visits are 15 mins in length for existing patients.




Are Naturopathic Doctors regulated in Ontario?


Naturopathic Doctors are regulated by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario, who’s role and powers are determined by the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 and the Naturopathy Act, 2007. The College of Naturopaths of Ontario ensures that NDs are properly qualified to practice Naturopathic Medicine.

How can Dr. Corey ND RMT RAc address my pelvic pain?


Utilizing my additional training in pelvic floor therapy (internal and external manual therapy) with acupuncture, external massage therapy techniques and naturopathic medicine I will approach your treatments with you as an entire person and not just the symptom of pain. Will look at all of your body systems that come into affect your current state of pain and flare-ups. We will take a systematic, step by step approach that will take time but provide you relief and hope for a different state of living. I will be your pelvic health solutionist.
